Python molurus
—
Indian Rock Python
Also known as:
Indian Python
Python molurus is proud to be the type species of the genus Python. The Burmese Python, now classified as Python bivittatus, was formerly considered to be a subspecies of P. molurus.

One of the workers at the tented camp in which we were staying discovered this young python beneath a mattress on the floor. My guide Udaya Chanaka carefully removed at least a dozen fat ticks from this snake before we made it pose for our photos. That seemed like a fair trade.
