This skink is semi-aquatic; it hangs out near streams and forages underwater. I saw a couple of small ones at Kubah National Park but they dove into the stream and disappeared before I could get photos. This one was nice and large, but I could only see it from a position on a bridge crossing the stream. I returned a few times to this same spot in hopes of a better angle but never saw it again. This picture is in close competition with my only photo of a Slender Wolf Snake for the title of My Worst Malaysian Photo.

It turns out that getting a decent photo of this skink is much easier when you find one sleeping on a leaf at night.
